CODE OF CONDUCT

Lore Con exists for everyone to be able to create and tell their stories. Every story needs a world worth inhabiting. Lore Con is built to be the world for fans, creators, and storytellers of every background to be able to show up and fully feel at home. That only works if everyone in the room commits to it. This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, vendors, panelists, guests, sponsors, volunteers, and staff from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave.

The Short Version

Treat people with respect. Take up your space without taking someone else’s. If something feels wrong, say something. We are here to handle it.

Who This Applies To

This policy covers everyone present at Lore Con 2026 whether they are attendees, exhibitors, panelists, special guests, sponsors, media, volunteers, and staff. It applies inside the Durham Convention Center, in any Lore Con designated areas, and at any official Lore Con events or gatherings connected to the convention.

Zero Tolerance Behaviors

The following will result in immediate removal from the event without refund and may be referred to law enforcement:

Harassment of any kind, including verbal, physical, or digital
Stalking or following attendees without consent
Unwanted physical contact
Photography or recording of individuals without their explicit permission
Displaying hate symbols or imagery of any kind
Threatening language or behavior
Any conduct that endangers the safety of others

How We Define Harassment

Harassment includes any behavior that makes another person feel unsafe, unwelcome, or targeted. This includes comments or conduct related to race, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, body size, religion, national origin, or appearance; both direct targeting and creating an environment where others feel excluded or unsafe.
Being in costume, being friendly, or having spoken to someone before does not give anyone permission to touch, follow, or photograph another person. Consent is specific and ongoing.

Photography and Recording

Lore Con staff and official media partners will be capturing the event through photos and video. By attending, you acknowledge that you may appear in event coverage used across Lore Con’s platforms.

For everyone else: ask before you shoot. A cosplay is not consent and not an invitation. If someone says no, respect it immediately and move on. Non-consensual photography or recording is a violation of this policy and will be treated accordingly. Secret recording (including smart / AI glasses) is not permitted.

Reporting an Incident

If someone’s behavior has made you feel unsafe or uncomfortable, find a Lore Con staff member immediately. Staff are identifiable by their lanyards. You can also reach us at info@loreconvention.com before, during, or after the event.
Every report is taken seriously. We will respond promptly, keep your information confidential to the extent possible, and take appropriate action up to and including removal from the event.

Consequences

Lore Con reserves the right to remove any attendee, vendor, panelist, or staff member who violates this policy. Removal is immediate, no refund will be issued, and depending on the nature of the violation, local law enforcement may be contacted.
